Truro School Mixed-U18A vs  Mount Kelly
On: Tuesday, 29 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

In the first game of the season, Truro School welcomed Mount Kelly to the SBA arena. Truro had a healthy line up, with 18 boys available for selection. Needless to say that this bodes well for future fixtures and basketball at Truro is truly alive and kicking!

In a nervy first quarter, Truro had the better opening spell and maintained a narrow advantage throughout the first period. Truro's flow will have no doubt be quelled by making constant substitutions, but, in the first game, I was pleased to see game time being shared equally.

The second quarter started with a flurry of Mount Kelly baskets and they took the lead for the first time. Some great interchanges and nice lay ups got Mount Kelly confidence fired up and we now had a game on our hands.

In the 3rd period, the best basketball was played by both sides. The early disruption of fouls and substitutes began to disappear and end to end basketball ensued. Truro coming alive, opened up an 8 point lead, the biggest of the game.

The 4th quarter was reduced to 5 min due to timing issues but a wonderful Mount Kelly fight back had the decent crowd who had turned up to support both teams, wondering which team would snatch victory. A couple of late Truro baskets ensured that our first game would end victorious and happy faces all round.

A good game played in good spirit. Thank you to all the boys who turned up. Here's to more basketball at Truro School for the rest of the school year!
