Truro School Boys-U15A vs  Mount Kelly
On: Saturday, 22 Sep 2018
Venue: Away

An early morning start, grey skies and pouring rain can only mean one thing - an away trip to Devon. Sadly, Noah’s Ark was unavailable and the chaps boarded the bus wondering if they should have packed flippers and a snorkel instead of rugby boots. Luckily for all on the the bus, Mr Hatfield was host extraordinaire and the bingo was in full swing by the time we hit Carland Cross.

Both teams lined up in rain of biblical proportions and not even a prayer could have saved Truro as the half ended 24-0 to Mount Kelly. Tasked with winning the second half, Truro began to launch a comeback that even Lazarus would have admired. With Sammy Whiteleg mowing down everything in front of him, ably supported by Joss Williams and Harry Standen, Truro began to show their real selves. Joe Moran started the comeback with a fine score after a clever kick by Toby French. Conversion missed. Truro, now playing at a good pace, added two more scores with Charlie Brocklebank and Memhet Aldemir dotting down. Toby French slotting one conversion and Joe Moran excellently converting one from out wide. Sadly Truro had left themselves with too much to do and the game ended 31-19 to Mount Kelly. The U15’s will need to sort out their Jekyll and Hyde approach and vastly improve their discipline if they are going to fulfil their clearly abundant potential. A big thank you to all those who travelled and there were some exceptional performances and efforts from the boys.

Player of the match goes to Sammy Whiteleg.
