Match Report
Truro School 1st XI vs  Falmouth School
On: Wednesday, 05 Dec 2018
Venue: at Home

A great performance from the first X1 this week. Back to the basics of a 4-4-2 with debutant Obum starting his first competitive match.

The boys started very strongly, moving the ball quickly and having great confidence whilst in possession, particularly playing out from the back whilst under pressure.

A great volley from Callum saw Truro go 1-0 up around the 20-minute mark, and firmly in control of the game.

1-0 HT.

The second half started off similarly to that of the first. Truro dominating possession and creating a few half chances. Ethan was called upon a few times, particularly when Falmouth’s striker was through 1v1 and made a calm decision to dive and collect the ball cleanly with two hands as the striker tried to take the ball around him.

Long, direct balls over the top were causing the Truro boys some trouble, particularly when the wind picked up, and the ball skidding off of the wet surface making the bounce difficult to judge.

Callum’s second goal came from a very direct run from the right hand side, riding 3-4 tackles and neatly tucking the ball into the far corner.

2-0 : 40 mins

Callum completed his hat-trick and put Truro in a very strong position with a 3-0 lead. Falmouth managed to score a consolation goal 3 minutes from time, finally managing to capitalise on a long ball that made its way past the centre back partnership of Max and Charlie; a neat finish saw the ball go through the goalkeepers legs.

3-1 FT

A good result on the back of two very difficult opening games.
