U12- A

With the tournament taking place over 2 venues and 16 teams entered it was going to be a hockey filled day ahead of us. We had 2 teams entered both in the same group section at Truro School. Missing a couple of key players due to being away we still had a very strong squad of 8 players. We started off extremely strong, powerful, ready to put the hard work in and get the results we had been working towards beating Pool, Newquay Tretherras and Penryn, not conceding one goal and scoring a total of 13 goals within the 4 games. With a short break, the girls had to re light the energy they showed and going against a team of club players this game was going to be a great battle against Humphey Davey School, we had our opportunities but didn't take them, Humphey Davey were quick on the break and we were caught not tracking back, the game ended 1-0 to them. Going into the next game we played Falmouth, trying to gain some energy back and not be to disheartened we got a win back, 2-1 to us however it was an extremely lucky game for us to get the result. Going into the final game of the group stages against our own team, we went a goal down, we had the majority of the possession but the keeper was pulling of every save and we were struggling to find the back of the net. Finally it came and the game ended 3-1 to us. Taking 2nd place in our group we had a short break and would be straight into the Semi- final against Penair. The game was end to end stuff, Penair had some key players and they worked the ball through them well but we did have opportunities we didn't take advantage of. With the game ending 0-0 we went into extra time, 5 mins each way and the net still couldn't be found from either teams. With us having to find a winner it came down to flicks, after it all equal after 5 flicks from each team we had to go to sudden death flicks and after Round 3 Penair finally took the lead and would go on to play Richard Lander in the final. It was a great performance from all players and i was extremely proud of there attitude throughout the day, it was an extremely unfair way to get beaten but unfortunately that is sport. Well Done Girls! Miss Manley

The girls were so excited at the prospect of having the opportunity to play so many games throughout the day including the other Truro school team. They started off with a tough game against Humphey Davey which they lost but not without displaying a huge amount of effort and determination. Each game we changed their positions to allow them plenty of opportunities to play in a position they may never have had the opportunity to try. Over the next couple of games they really got into their stride and began to play some nice hockey together and kept the work rate high even in the heat which we had! The girls got some great results with a couple of draws and 1 win! The last game was against the other Truro school team; again the girls played with the same effort and determination as the other games and they were rewarded with a lovely worked goal to take them 1-0 up. Unfortunately this sparked the fire in the opposition and they managed to pull away from us with a 3-1 win. I am so proud and pleased with the girls, they grew with confidence throughout the day which was displayed in their results against some other good teams. They finished the day as they started with big smiles on their faces! Well done girls!! Miss Fisher
