Match Report
Truro School Boys -1st XV vs  Shebbear College
On: Saturday, 17 Nov 2018
Venue: at Home

This was a performance of real guts and determination against a very big and physical Shebbear College team.

The boys started well and put together some good phases of play which allowed Ollie Reed to go over for a try. Shebbear came back strongly and hit the short side with their big No. 8 from a 5m scrum and we just couldn't stop him. We they started to play the ball a little wider to make their big pack run and this paid dividends with tries from Matt Pritchard and Alfie Burns with Ollie Brocklebank converting one. This gave us a 17-5 lead at half time.

Shebbear came back strongly in the second half and despite some wonderful defence we could not stop them scoring twice and converting one, this meant the last ten minutes we were defending a 2 point lead. The boys pulled together and really put their bodies on the line making tackle after tackle. The time passed very slowly but the desire and determination of the boys was there for all to see and we held out to win 17-15. It was a great performance from all but special mention must go to Billy Bateson and Jack Higginson for the number of tackles they made.
