Sports report for Friday Assembly

Fencing

In the first British ranking event of the season Max Cromie, 5m, clinched bronze in the Under 17 boy’s event with Leanne Chan, SF13, our recent joiner to the Sixth Form from Boston, USA, taking gold in her first British Under 17 girls’ event. These 2 results all bode very well for the first international call ups to be announced in a few weeks' time.

Netball

Three netball teams travelled to The Maynard School in Exeter last week for some excellent fixtures. The outstanding performance of the day went to the U16s, who won 32-20 against a team they hadn't beaten convincingly in the past. Truro played with 11 players whilst The Maynard stuck to their 7 strongest. Every girl played with passion and commitment. An excellent result, the girls now have their hearts set on reaching the National finals this year

Rugby

1st XV lost to Ivybridge and now enter the Vase. It was a tough game but the players learnt a lot in defeat and know what they need to work on. It was great to see the reaction of the players after a tough defeat.

Cricket

U15’s are county champions. For the first time ever, the county final was played indoors and was hosted at the SBA. They won by 7 runs and are now entered into the national completion.

Football

U18 lost to last years winners, Bradfield college in the national cup but put in a great team performance

Golf

Cameron Gurd (5j) has been selected for the U18 England squad. The first school match is against Millfield next week.
